All our kilns fire with electronic controllers. If you want to fire with cones you can rent a time machine and travel back in time to when kilns needed cones.
Damp Clay
The preprogrammed schedules include a few hours candling to remove any residual moisture in the clay - but we expect you to fire only FULLY dried clay. If your clay is not FULLY dry, wait until it is. You should expect it to take 2 weeks or more to dry.
Clay Bottoms
You are responsible for preparing your projects to ensure glaze does not drip onto a kiln shelf. If you’re not sure how we can show you.
GLASS
COE Compatibility
All glass used here is COE 96. If you are working with any glass other than COE 96 compatible is it ESSENTIAL you keep all of it ENTIRELY separate from all other glass in the studio.
Molds
If you plan to fuse a project to later be shaped with a mold, start by selecting the mold you expect to use. If you use any of the ceramic of steel shop molds check with us to be sure they have been fully prepared ready for kiln use.
